Imax Announces Another China Deal

Imax Corp. on Thursday reported its second deal multi-theater deal in China in less than two weeks with a plan to install three of its giant-screen theaters in Chongqing, is a sprawling municipality in western China.

Imax did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

The Mississauga, Ontario, company said the theaters will be installed at the Chongqing Movie City multiplex, the Children's Palace and Chongqing Science and Technology Museum. Chongqing has a population of 32 million people.

Including this deal, Imax plans to operated 22 theaters in China by 2008.

Shares of Imax rose 53 cents, or 6.1 percent, to $9.19 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
