I was driving to a site a few years ago and a guy came running out of the bush covered in blood with a big maniacal smile. As I was slowing down I thought I might be making a big mistake stopping. I rolled down the window and he could barely speak and it took a few minutes for him to spit out he was the local town pharmacist and had just shot his first moose. He wanted us to come and see the bereft of life Alces alces andersoni which was only a three mile hike through mosquito infested swamp. One of the Indians that was with me works as a guide and said he acted just like the American hunters he guides way up north after a first kill.
