Thanks for the Clovis explanation. I'm having trouble keeping up here, and that helped. I totally agree that pressure to conform affects science greatly. Particularly in the softer sciences, such as sociology or psychology, one could make a long list of hypothetical studies that would never be funded because they are too politically sensitive or incorrect. Even if they were self-funded, they would never make it through the journal gate-keepers and be published.
