According to him, he should have been fired pretty much the way people at CBS were fired. He did, if Matthews was referring to Dan Rather. He retired, just like Dan Rather will do. He got a freedom medal, just like Dan Rather will get his gold watch or whatever from CBS and from the major media organizations.

I don't know which of the Three Stooges (Paul Bremer, Tommy Franks and George Tenet) deserved the award more. Franks screwed up the Iraq war by grossly underestimating the extent of the Iraqi resistance. Bremer screwed up by dismantling the Iraqi bureaucracy and demobilizing the Iraqi armed forces. Tenet screwed up by being utterly and totally wrong on the intelligence that led us to the war.
