Tim, I suspect you are either not older, have no preexisting condition or have never tried to get health insurance on your own.

You suspect correctly, but should I at some point fit in to one of those categories I don't think I would change my mind on the issue, and if I didn't it would just mean I was being self serving not that my original position was wrong.

I am telling you all of this in case there are others out there thinking of retiring before they are old enough for Medicare, if you are thinking of that MAKE SURE you got your insurance covered. jdn

Good point. Also in general I think people should try to avoid retiring until they have well above what they think they will need for retirement. You could easily live longer or spend more then you expect.
