Try and think about what Tom C said.

Tom C's brilliant analogy:

"Remember the sixties? Remember strobe (sp?) lights. Everything was dark. The light flashed every second or so. In between flashes everyone moved if they were dancing. Imagine a strobe light that flashed 100 times every million years. That's the fossil record."
