I have to give Brazil the credit for being "Brazilian"<g>. Even China now pushes English study like there is no tomorrow. College graduates cannot even get their degree without passing the 4th level of English examine, including all majors.

Snow they are always trying to shoot Lula down and as a guy who comes from a humble background is always target of such diatribes related to education and/or 'improper' behavior Rememebr the NY Times guy article saying he drunk to much? Lula said, it is not necessary to know English, BEFOREHAND meaning English proficiency is not a sine qua non condition to enroll at Instituto Rio Branco (the diplomats' school) and the school should prepare to teach it.
