So let me ask you, zofsilence? Are we supposed to play by the rules as they murder us ruthlessly and as they play by no rules?

I know there is a brand of belief that says that you shouldn't stoop to the level of your worst enemy and that you should remain the gentleman, etc. And I think that largely in our civilized world, these maxims apply. However, I believe that in a war against incredible evil such as Islamic Fundamentalism, we should pull out all the stops. These people think nothing of murdering women and children and sawing the heads off of innocents.

Therefore, I think nothing of locking them up in Guantanamo for life without giving them the ability to avail themselves of our courts. I believe that only American citizens should have the right to due process in our courts. If we have an extradition treaty with an ally of ours, then we should send those prisoners to their home for prosecution. If we don't have an extradition treaty, then we should hold them until they die.

As far as Abu Graib, it is kind of sickening, but at the same time, these are not innocent Iraqis. They are hardened terrorists who are fighting an insurgency that may very well result in the loss of freedom for 25 million Iraqis. So I find it extremely difficult to feel sorry for any of them.
