It's definitely not a slam dunk among the GOP. As John point out, privatization requires an upfront investment. Many people feel that $2 trillion is too much right now when we are already so much in the hole. I'm not too sure if the timing of this thing is perfect either. However, I'm a realist and I realize that this may be the best opportunity in my lifetime of us getting social security changed for the better. So we should take opportunities when they present themselves. Therefore, I'm behind the SS reform, if implemented properly.
