We went to check out a few heavily promoted projects in FL: WCI Colony in Coconut Beach, Renuion in Orlando, Hammock Beach in Palm Coast, etc. Yike! The prices that are being tossed around are shocking. Not only the initial purchase prices are so inflated, but the after sale - holding costs, such as property taxes, HOA fees, club membership fees, ...

Are we really this well to do? Is it real that so many of us can afford a second home or retirement living that cost more than $20-$30k/year before we even put any food on the table?
