AIME is, itself, limited. You don't need to limit the percentage if you limit the base.

AIME is, itself, limited. You don't need to limit the percentage if you limit the base. AIME is, of course, based on the SS wage base, which changes yearly, but would never approach 80K/month.

The computation itself, by virtue of the higher percentages below the two lower bend points, is highly beneficial to those who had lesser incomes during their working lives, since the lower portion of the wage base receives the greater percentage payout.
