Carl was quite inaccurate wrt Bush (and continues to be IMHO), but pretty accurate wrt Iraqi insurgency.

Inasmuch as he predicted an insurgency, he was accurate. However, to hear Carl tell it, the insurgency would have the backing of 97.5% of the Iraqis, and was impossible to put down without killing 5% of the Iraqis = 1.2 million men, and this is why we lost Vietnam and the French lost Algeria, and everybody always loses to insurgents, and more macabre numerical games. This bears extremely little resemblance to the current Ba'athist backed insurgency, or to the course of war, or counter-insurgencies in general.
