Searle: I worked for some years in a large mad bureaucracy and the idea that any thing proposed by upper management was incorrect or absurd was never spoken in public. The popular phrase some years ago was Group Think. The idea that an army that proved insufficient to control Iraq was somehow believed sufficient to expand the war on terrorism is understood by those unfortunate to have experienced such bureaucratic delusions. That is what haunts the US at the moment. Along with no WMDs, no nukes, no chemical spraying planes and no justification for invading another country contrary to the main reason for the UN. Its a problem that has yet to be resolved and I suspect will be swept under the rug along with the rest--once they figure out how to get most the troops out of Iraq.
