Nobody seems to talk about the idea of invensting, say, 10-20% of the SS trust fund in an S&P tracking fund.

You'd still have to raise the cash to maintain the current benefits.

That's a really good idea. Even to invest just 10% of it in the S&P500, would be an incredible improvement.
