MQ USSR invested all the way to bankruptcy of their system.

1/2 dozen countries have nookes arsenal. Are the remaning 200 (or so) doomed because they don't?

I never ever considered nukes a serious or iminent threat. In our beer tables while working on the field (25 to 30 years ago) I made several times people angry at me when I laughed about nuke Armaggedom.

Now that I have a child to raise, have seen an Eastern European country and its people, when I worked there, and how the worlds economy is integrated, I'm seeing how much poeple have to lose on an armed confrontation, I find even much much less plausible that people wake up in the morning and decide to go for the neighbors' throat.

Conflicts are restricted to the fringes by desperate people.

I'm writing this in Kaduna, Nigeria, on the heart of Africa, alone in my office, there's no public utility energy now, only the back up genset working. I will jump in my car and will drive 15Km alone, in total darkness, to my place like if this was Christchurch, New York or London.
