I've thought about us picking a date to withdraw, but that sends a horribly wrong message to the terrorists. It says, we're leaving. So bide your time and the country is yours. The message we should be sending is that we are large and powerful and have more resources than you. We will stay here and outspend you and outfight you until the job is done. We will never go away until Iraq is peacefully governed by a pluralistic, democratically elected body. If you want us to leave, then you will spend your energy by helping to rebuild. Otherwise, the U.S. will own Iraq for an eternity.
