I wasn't making an argument against worldwide depression, just pointing out that some people with extremely well researched reasons have consistently been wrong predicting one in the past four decades. People with far more experience and knowledge than anyone here. This is despite the fact that many of the various occurrences that they said would precipitate a worldwide downturn occurred exactly the way they said they would.

What it points up is that the economy can not be analyzed on a linear basis and is extremely difficult to predict. Ceteris paribus never is.

BTW I've never been silent, right or wrong. I'm positioned for any eventuality, boom or bust. As Art Cashin says, "You don't want to bet on the end of the world because it is a one time event."
