I think we are the U.S. I think we bit off more than we can chew. We are losing, but we can still win. We just needed a leader who is capable of winning. I believed Kerry was that leader. I have my doubts about Bush, but I still think we can come away winners still, even though the odds are long.

I define winning as getting a pluralistic gov't elected by the people running Iraq, with an army and police force that can beat back the insurgents. I think we owe it to those Iraqis to fix what we broke.

Let me give you an example of the way I feel. When I was in college, I borrowed one of my dad's cars. He told me I didn't need one, but I convinced him I did. To reassure him, I told him I'd pay for it to the last penny, if I crashed it. Unfortunately, I crashed it. I paid him every dime I said I would. It took me almost 2 years to collect enough money to pay him back. Luckily, it was a crappy car to begin with. He then gave me all the money back, because he said that I'd learned my lesson and he felt I deserved to keep the money.

Anyway, the point is that I broke something that didn't belong to me and I then did my best to fix it. That is called responsibility. The U.S. went in with high ideals and through mistake after mistake, botched the whole deal. They broke Iraq. Maybe it was a mistake. Regardless, we now have to fix it. To do anything less is an abdication of responsibility.
