Husky Energy says profits dip on hedging and currency losses
Last Updated Mon, 17 Jan 2005 20:07:16 EST
CBC News

CALGARY - Husky Energy has reported a $1-billion profit for 2004 – down 25 per cent from 2003 – as it paid a price for its now-abandoned hedging program during a time of record high crude oil prices.

Husky also said its bottom line was hurt by the high Canadian dollar.

The Calgary-based oil and gas giant said without its hedging program in 2004, it would have made $376 million more.

David,
Jay has said that 2382.hk, which I suppose will go on the market in February, is the thing to own. I'm convinced myself. Parking lots are gold mines. Of course it may open at too high a price. Nothing is certain in investing, eh? One can overpay, even for a gold mine.

<<Could you please give your top picks for LTBH ... in HK real estate for yield+gain>>

... tough one, because I cannot recommend anything for LTBH in HK real estate shares, even though I like HK physical real estate as a holding, though perhaps not a new buy.

I like Macau physical real estate as a new buy, but only if residential, and I am intrigued by China real estate, but only if distressed.

I do watch this finance.yahoo.com and do buy for wife's account at 17.5 and sell at 1.00 higher, repeatedly, again and once more. There is some in her account now. I was told the exercise is safe whenever it moves away from 20.00.

Chugs, Jay

P.S. this is my real estate watch list
