"In Dasent’s words I would say: ‘We must be satisfied with the soup that is set before us, and not desire to see the bones of the ox out of which it has been boiled.’"

I could make an argument that it supports evolution OR creationism, so I know I must be confused.

I think it means we should not try and explain away every situation in order to protect an idea or cover our own ass. We see a problem and we should deal with it honourably and not use it as an excuse to further our own personal agenda or theory.

If we evolved from monkeys or simply fell from grace it won't make a great deal of difference to a person starving or howling in pain.
