I see Reagan and Bush as ideal Republican candidates. Both are likable, easily manipulated frontmen who come across well on television and stick to the script. Ideal candidates for a "nation of salesmen", not too intellectual, but then, who is? Certainly not the mass of the American people. TV candidates for a TV worshipping nation. As deep as the phosphors inside your TV.

>>>> being an attorney<<<<

Ok I'd forgotten details of your experience. It's an attorneys business to obtain an edge and many times not give advantage through truth or fact. I apologize if I insulted or offended you.
I've hired attorneys to gain respect form the opposition. Left me feeling small and a bit stupid. Thinking all I really did was waste money on a so called hired gun where I felt reason would of worked just as well if not for obstinacy but that's the game.
As you say you've never envisioned yourself becoming an attorney I take it you feel like me, you'd make a poor one? When I think of myself and my temperament it's obvious, my mouth wouldn't let me. I've been run off or threatened to be run off {fired} more than once for telling my employer or their agents to go __ themselves. When younger I was really bad certainly no diplomat which requires attributes of an attorney. Although I'm much better today sense I've learned how to tell someone to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip.

>>>>like Switzerland<<<<

I know little of Switzerland. For me it's mostly a name on a map. Although I've an uncle living there, he being the family idiot I don't want anything to do with him and have told him so. I'm of the mind Switzerland and the U.S is not a like for like comparison. Reasoning they've a pittance of the dynamics that our system is under. So ill risk your wrath and more than less dismiss the comparison.

>>>>>republic is more efficient than a democracy<<<<<

As to differences between Republics and Democracies I'm hoping for democracy while living in a republic. I like to think my vote counts but realize voting on all points of governance is impossible; unless your in Switzerland as I've been told. So I elect a representative. If he or she fails my expectations I vote them out. I am though constantly frustrated others impede my wishes with their misguided voting. But what is one to do, these people simply don't get it.

>>>>>Dramatically increase debt<<<<

I was so relived to have work under Reagan I was too busy catching up on past bills to fault him.

>>>>The Founding Father envisioned representative like themselves<<<<<

Awful naive of then wasn't it?
