The Problem Was, Is And Will always be in the Occupation

By Ali Al-Hail

Al-Jazeerah, January 18, 2005

The Israeli Prime Minister’s instructions to his occupation troops on Sunday to get even more tougher and to have more freer hand against the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, have been seen by observers on one hand as adding more insults to more injuries and pouring more oil on the already out breaking fire. While on the other hand, Ariel sharon’s commands were observed as continual missing to the whole point ofthe conflict and a sheer obstacle to Mahmoud Abbas’ political program of a mandate for peace as Yosi Balane, a former Israeli minister boldly and rightly, put it on Monday.

Sharon’s yet new hardheaded measure via which he manifested and marketed to the world that, the Karni Palestinian retaliation on Thursday night had ignited his harsh response and decisive will to crack down on the resistance. In such an assertion the Israeli Prime Minister typically, neglected the very fact again and again that, it was neither the Karni incidence nor is the entire resistance are the problem here as resistance is merely, a consequence and an outcome but the real problem is in the occupation as the cause and the sole cause.

One just wonder how more tougher would the occupation forces might get and how more freer hand would they have? Providing what they have been doing since September 28, 2000 (let alone the past four decades) which is just beyond comprehension of any living memory.

After almost 4 decades of occupation Israel hasn’t apparently, come up to terms with the fact that, the problem was, is and will always be in the concept, theme and notion of occupation. The whole entire world is aware of this reality which is, that occupation is illegal, ugly and costly to run. By the same token, the whole entire world is aware of that, the problem is not in the resistance as Israel all the time attempts to show the world, because resistance is a result of the occupation not a cause of it and people have the legal right to resist.

On the contrary, occupation is the cause of resistance and as soon as this cause i.e., occupation get eradicated the result i.e., the resistance would subsequently, wither away.

That’s why the whole entire world had agreed in1967 on UN three inseparable resolutions; 242, 338 and 194 to become the most appropriate framework for ending the occupation and for the return of the Palestinian refugees to their homes in the villages and cities in what’s called now ‘Israel’ from which they were evicted by hooligan styled vandalism in 1947. This article and other ones that dealt with the Israeli Arab conflict has predominantly, been urging and promoting peace between the Semitic fellow human being within the framework of UN resolutions and other treaties most notably, the Road Map Plan drawn out by the QUARTET.

These articles therefore, are not part of the problem as some people like to think but rather, part of the solution. And the solution is there as soon as Israel is willing to give up its rejections to the international consensus of human community and accept and respect the signatures of this consensus as well as its own signature on the numerous deals to finalize an end to this dispute once and for all.

two ways to go ed, either we protect ourselves domestically from all threats from all threatening sources on the planet or we go to the sources of the threats and deal with them there, this is assuming we want to continue our SOL, OWOL and OFs....
