Yes. Flatly yes. When we talk about the "demo-libs" having to clean their own corner, we should fairly address cleaning our own corner, as well. Ann Coulter, Rush and Pat Buchcanan are as much as of a blight on "our" side, as Hersh, Molly Ivins, and Kerry are on 'theirs'. Ann, in particular, has been getting real whiny lately. Banish her to a very remote, deserted island alone with Cat Stevens. "Okay, we'll propogate, but our kids can't play together... because that would lead to ... smoking, drinking, sex, and voting!" (It'd probably be a win-win for both sides, but who's counting?)

Ok, but what was the point in bringing up McNabb's race

I don't think it should have been brought up which is why I said. " While I don't think his comments were racist, I do think he shouldn't have brought race in to the issue of a QBs ability."

You can't say that McNabb's race was irrelevant to Rush's point, because Rush was the one who brought his race into the discussion.

I didn't say that McNabb's race was irrelevant to Rush's point. I said that I don't think the Rush's point was racist. Race being an issue in a statement doesn't equal the statement being racist.

Logically, it has to be that McNabb was being hyped because "they" wanted a black quarterback to succeed, despite the fact that none was doing so.

Assuming he meant that, "wanting a black QB to succeed when none of them where doing so", is not the same as "wanting a black QB when none of them can do so", or "none of them have done so", or "none of them will do so".

In any case I'm not sure that it would even have to mean "wanting a black QB to succeed when none of them where doing so" rather then "wanting a black QB to succeed when few of them where doing so".

Besides which, I have heard people come right out and say that blacks are not smart enough to be quarterbacks. So I would bend over backwards to avoid saying anything which could be construed as that.

That is sensible but it doesn't mean those who do not avoid saying anything which could possibly be construed as that are racist, or that their statements which could be misconstrued are racist.

Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot...After all, he's laughing all the way to the bank

Maybe not such an idiot then...
