Buckwheat: Is it not plain and simple that neither Fujitsu or AMD has the financial wherewithal to completely revamp all their fabs to the latest and greatest. They can only run harder to stand still at best.

Things will change for better only when there is surge in demand for Flash and price goes up. Not likely in short term IMHO.

I stand corrected. Looks like 230nm is most likely the largest process technology used in the JVs now.
