So I see you assume first that humans have total dominion over animals, including inflicting whatever cruelties they choose to inflict? That is what I would conclude from your post.

Do you agree then that humans have the inherent right to treat chickens this way?

Could you entertain the possibility that even if humans do slaughter animals for food, that animals deserve some sort of basic rights? Or do you believe that humans have every right to torture animals before they eat them?

There is nothing of the silly, psuedo-intellectual show about the campaign for animal rights (although I do think that people who do not even want to think about how animals suffer think they are clever when they use these arguments). While there are certainly people who do not eat animals at all, there are also people who do eat them who believe they are entitled to basic rights like freedom from pain, sunlight, access to water and suitable, healthy food, a humane death, and, in the case of chickens, the ability to flap their wings.

You are quick to assert your arguments, but I wonder if you actually know the level of cruelty you defend. Did you know this is the way chickens are treated? Do you think this is defensible?
