In todays state House of Appropriations meeting which I will link to on the bottom is a lady raising these concerns. Her name is Nancy Vernon- wished she had a link to herself and the information- to listen to it find House Appropriations on this page: tvw.org and click your choice of media to listen: January 19, 2005 LIVE -- The House Appropriations Committee holds a public hearing on HB 1037 (Making 2003-05 supplemental operating appropriations) in Olympia. you can use the slider on the media window to move it half way across and her presentation is approxiamately there....if you hear a man speaking, it is of the formal talk and she and another lady is after him. (she talks about 5-7 mins I think) pretty compelling IMHO, she raises the issue pointing out that the State of California has dropped that type of teaching program.
