"From Warren Buffets lips via CNBC to God's ass!<g>

" I'm having a hard time finding things to buy, if that says anything about the market," he said

I recently did a calculation of BRKa, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, through 1/1/05:

Since 2YR: 12/31/2002 BRKA is up +23%
Since 4YR: 12/31/2000 BRKA is up +26%
Since 6YR: 12/31/1998 BRKA is up +27%

I put some graphs and a table comparing BRKa to the indexes here:

Buffett didn't find anything decent to buy in late 2002 and early 2003 when the market was bottoming and his performance has suffered for it. What I found amazing was his BRKa fund was down nearly 20% in 1999 by my calculations.

I was trying to figure out why someone would pay so much to have lunch with him... My own record over that same 2, 4 and 6 year period is much better and I usually split the check (or take turns) when I have lunch with people! I wonder if BRKA is a case of making good money early on by taking risk then getting conservative to protect this money. Those that have been around since the early days with Buffett would then be quite loyal. ???
