I think of all those discombubulated gymnasium professors, with their Prussian stiffness and Anglophile tastes, trying to learn a little Hebrew and find day labor after fleeing the Anschluss, or the yeshiva boys who managed to live through Auschwitz, practically straight from the shtetls, davening in concentration camps in Cyprus, and wonder at the contemporary image of the Jews as a conquering horde. Yes, they are at fault for not dying quietly, it seems.
