EBay upgraded on valuation, shares gain in pre-open (EBAY) By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Legg Mason upgraded eBay (EBAY) to "buy" from "hold" due to valuation, as the recent share price decline has made the online auctioneer's stock valuation "compelling." The stock was up $1.37, or 1.6 percent, to $84.70 in Instinet pre-open trading after tumbling $19.72, or 19 percent on Thursday following the company's fourth-quarter earnings shortfall and disappointing outlook. Analyst Scott Devitt established a $100 stock price target. "This company, in our opinion, has the best business model of any that we cover and, for the most part, it is well insulated from competition," Devitt said.
