When I saw the protesters on the parade route, I thought, "how tacky." If Kerry had won, you wouldn't have seen this. I understand they had to subdue some protesters.

Let's face it folks, the violence in this country now comes out of the left. It's been it's home for a long time. You get a "McVeigh" now and that, but that's not the rule.

Bubble-fusion, hot-fusion, cold-fusion, con-fusion.

I don't think the Saudis have to worry any time soon. But if H12N7 [H5N1 + H7N7] virus gets on the rampage and the world's population is reduced by a billion or three, there isn't going to be much demand for oil. The Saudis should make hay while the sun shines.

So far, of 50 cases, 75% have died. That's a very good kill rate. It's 7 times more fatal than sars and people thought that was bad. It is gaining ground. It is relentlessly evolving to do the deed. It's like a slow-motion train wreck under way and almost nobody is doing anything about it. Talk about Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

It's odd that in the Year of the Rooster, H5N1 avian flu is being almost ignored. Meanwhile, the roosters are strutting around, with King George II crowned again and Hu Jintao and Vladimir Putin planning joint manoeuvres "on China's territory" which in their book will include Taiwan.

One minute a rooster, the next a feather duster.

This might be a very, very interesting year.

The Year of the Rooster - what an omen!
