The old Chinese proverb about living in interesting times - comes to mind. Frankly, we need to be looking at domestic energy sources. More imports - now LNG - simply drives the trade deficit further into the red. Imagine the economic benefits of a massive coal based energy program would have in jobs, foreign trade and overall energy independence. I personally would support a gasoline tax if it were used to generate alternate liquid fuels in the US.

I simply do not see how the trade deficit can ever be closed if we continue to grow imports and weaken the dollar - it is a destructive cycle.

As Nixon was able to go to China - somewhere there must be a democrat who can come to America and isolate the left and enable us to get on with solutions instead of issues.
