Yeah, thanks!! They had a Chicago pot hole (the size of a VW) develop yesterday on the Dan Ryan. Commutes in from O'Hare to Ohio St were 3 hours...
EBAY was quite the ride. Not often that a 25 cent put becomes a $7.00 put the next day!

Highway workers shut down a portion of the Ryan between 17th and 18th Streets about 7:30 a.m. Thursday after they discovered that part of the elevated road's concrete had "disintegrated and punched all through the road deck," said Mike Claffey, Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman.

For traffic-control purposes, officials said they were forced to close the Monroe Street entrance to the southbound Kennedy Expressway and the Roosevelt Road entrance on the Ryan during the repairs.

Wear and tear and winter conditions on the busy expressway were to blame for the break that exposed the reinforced steel bars of the highway and a view of the street below, Claffey said.
