Margaret Atwood... the name hit me when I took up the book because a couple years ago a sister gave me a book by her "Blue Shoes", and then I found another book by her on our shelves. Something about a heart. the landscape was different but felt so the same. Different climate but... I'm no sure I really understand why it hit me. This morning I've been editing, yet again, a very short story I wrote and a lot of the story is just the enviroment here. The connection that has to life here. I guess that is what struck me. It might have had snow there. and more water. But the deep envolvement between the enviroment and daily life, who we are... was so the same.

"Surfacing" in B.C., is funny, the way it has been kept under the surface for so many centuries.
