One big mistake at that time was not to read "Mein Kampf" or to read it and not to believe it.

I don't know of anybody who doesn't know about bin Laden and his mad ideas. But I know a lot of people who don't know about the ideas of Leo Strauss, the father of the madmen called "neo-conservatives". But alas, those people have a lot more influence than bin Laden. I recommend reading Leo Strauss, his ideas about religion, government and "eternal war".
