A counter-rant by a single female supporter (not involved in any way in the salient facts, or possessing a membership in the group of relevant individuals) isn't. It lacks credibility.

My gosh, how far afield this is going. Summers did not state a conclusion. He raised a question in the vein of "Is it possible that ...?" What kind of "credibility" do you need to support his posing of a provocative question to a gathering of scientists?

If 100 to 600 science faculty are "ranting" about being challenged with an unpopular hypothetical, the closed-mindedness of the academy is even worse than some of us already thought.

How can you support scientists stomping on the floor in unison to choke off the expression of a controversial idea?

Oh, one in six. Well, that's just... uh... overwhelming. I bet they got, what, half the female faculty?
