Layoffs Du Jour 77....Stratus Technologies Stratus focuses on service: Stratus job cuts felt in Maynard By Greg Turner / News Business Writer Friday, January 21, 2005 MAYNARD -- The parent company of Stratus Technologies Inc. said it is slashing about 20 percent of its worldwide work force, with 77 job losses coming locally. The maker of so-called fault-tolerant computer servers announced a cost-cutting move this week that will result in a reduction of 180 jobs out of its total staff of 903. The elimination of the software test-engineering positions from the Windows Core Operating System Division was effective late last week. It is the second Microsoft job reduction in recent months attributed to efforts to shift away from manual testing.
