The maker of so-called fault-tolerant computer servers announced a cost-cutting move this week that will result in a reduction of 180 jobs out of its total staff of 903. The elimination of the software test-engineering positions from the Windows Core Operating System Division was effective late last week. It is the second Microsoft job reduction in recent months attributed to efforts to shift away from manual testing.
