got a dirty (or at least suspicious) look from one young man in traditional clothing.

What is your take on that?

Dunno, could just be that I was obviously not Muslim, my head was uncovered. All the other women in the store had head coverings. And Nick is 6'3" and has a blond crewcut.

I did buy an Islamist magazine that was in English, published in Toronto. $3. Ben says now I am on the FBI Most Wanted List, but I paid cash. ;^)

The back of the mag gives a website, www.islamicthought.org.

I've been there before, to buy a book by Sayyid Qutb, the Egyptian philosopher who is the inspiration for bin Laden. They have an entire section of their bookstore devoted to Qutb, who is quite popular. What I read did not seem violent but as we know, there is a violent imperative inherent in fundamentalist Islam.

I like to shop at Middle Eastern grocers but this is one I don't usually go to, because for some strange reason I feel uneasy there.
