Yes as long as you take the care Catch and Release is Good.

But in most case people just dump back into the water.

Take a Northern Pike most can't stand them(Slimy) and when they nail the hook they miss is and catch it in the eyeball and those get tossed back into the lake= Dead Fish

Here most lakes are Catch and release already cause the Natives get to keep netting and Commericial Fishing is the biggest problem in cleaning out the fish.MONEY MONEY MONEY thats what its all about

That's why bass are so much fun, they're tough old hoggers and require little pampering prior to putting them back.

It's the cotton-pickin' small pike that I have to be real careful with - or they'll belly up. Made the mistake of 'lipping' a 5 pounder one day when I wasn't thinking (..at a bass pond..) and had an acute case of shreaded-thumb for about a week.

Oh well..................

It's nice to catch a pre-caught finny-critter, especially if you can remove any previous hardware he's managed to pick up.

John :-)
