re: In a choice between anarchy and democracy, we should choose freedom.

If there is a choice between A and B, how can you "choose" C?

re: If we walk away from Iraq now, it will devolve temporarily into anarchy, and then into a new brutal dictatorship.

It is anarchy right now. How do you know it will go to a "brutal dictatorship", are you psychic?

re: We have a chance to stay for long enough to make a difference in peoples lives. If we leave we will make a different sort of difference.

Hell, we've killed 100,000 civilians, "mostly women and children", I would say that was "making a difference". It we leave it will be a positive difference, guaranteed.

re: How sad it is to know that there are Americans who wish to discard a whole country witha flip comment and sentence them to poverty and death.

I don't know about poverty but we've certainly brought Death. The sooner we get out, the less people die, period.

I remember, for years (and 10,000-20,000 GI deaths) we couldn't leave Vietnam because of the "bloodbath" that would follow. We left; the bloodbath never happened. Vietnam descended into peace.
