"I grew up in Texas and lived in Texas during Richards and Bush's governorship."

What part of Texas?

If so, then you know that the governors don't get televised often, if at all. Dubya was pretty low-profile, even for a Texas governor. I think the only time I saw him on the tube was when he debated Ann. Ann was in the media a whole lot more than Dubya. TigerPaw dug up the video and Dubya doesn't sound like he does now.

Quite frankly, Dubya strikes me as a goat roper.

I still live in Texas and know Bush didn't have his hocum accent before he was coached for the presidential run. I heard him speak numerous times when he ran for governor. Furthermore I have relatives in Midland and have been there often and know that Junior's fake east texas drawl is nothing like what is spoken in Midland, nor in Connecticut where he is actually from.

He is a genuine phoney through and through.

Ha! They are full of crap. I grew up in Texas and lived in Texas during Richards and Bush's governorship. He had the twang then and he has it now.

About six months ago, I saw a video clip from 1994 when he was running for governor. He spoke like a northeasterner, and not a Texan. There was no twang.

Many people make fun of southerners. Northerners especially think southerners are stupid, because they talk slower and have an accent. It's really naive to underestimate people because of the way they talk.

I placed no judgement on the twang and its indication of intellect. I simply said he acquired the Texan twang some time during his tenure as governor.
