Uh, so Marchese paid $5000 for some research and Dobry (through Marvin) paid $10,500 for some research. Your amazing discovery is that both parties in that suit paid for some research for their respectives sides of the case. You figured that out on your own, or did you need help?

In addition to wondering if you have a point, I also wonder what this has to with the US vs. Elgindy, Royer, et. al. trial. Looks like a 0-0 on both counts.

Dobry had convinced a high-profile Chicago radio station talkshow host that he had uncovered a conspiracy "bigger than Enron." His theory was that "we" (Elgindy, Shell, etc.) secretly controlled the message boards to launder money via illicit stock trades. He then convinced the radio guy to spend $10K on PIs, one of which in Milan, Italy (where Janice used to live) to spy on her, convinced that was all a cover story (despite countless articles, books, pictures, etc. by reputable journalists to the contrary). Since they couldn't sue Janice in Italy, they sued Marchese in Illinois. Since Marchese, understandably, didn't have the time or desire to find, read, and print out hundreds of scurrilous Dobry posts, he asked Janice to do so and compensated her for the time.

The lawsuit was eventually settled with each side agreeing not to talk about the other on message boards and that was that. However, the talkshow host was so pissed at Dobry for the embarrassment he suffered that he ordered Dobry to remove any reference at all to him on Dobry's web site (quotes, paintings, etc.). From what I recall reading on RB, he wanted nothing ever to do with Dobry again. BTW, the talkshow host has since been fired from that high-profile job.
