I don't see any downside whatsoever to Firefox -- but there are a couple of sites which won't allow me to use Firefox, which is why I keep IE.

Seriously, I can't think of any reason to not at least give it a try. In fact, I'll make it easy on you.

advantages and disadvantages after trying Firefox

The number one advantage that I use minute by minute is in the "copy and paste" procedure. A time consuming step has been removed. When you highlight the text it is copied. No "copy" step needed. You simply go ahead and paste.

The second one is the use of top "tabs" instead of separate windows. You can't imagine how more convenient that is until you use it.

The third is a spellcheck usable as you type.
