Do you know for instance that married couples get tax breaks ?

Do you know that when a property is sold that the tax break for a married couple on capital gains is $ 500.000

Do you know that when a husband or wife die the property passes to the living spouse... no tax involved.

More buying of votes......

So when are we going to stop it?

Hi Suma,

Alot of what you post below is standard misinformation spread by the gay activists and Democrats. As a CPA and someone with a couple fo Master's degrees (one in Accounting), let me address some of these issues to set the record straight.

When you say pushing gay marriage what you are saying is really denying a group their civil rights.

Actually, I'm conflicted about gay marriage. I hate to impose my beliefs on others, which is why I think I wouldn't be against civil unions for gay people. However, the gay agenda is over the top. All I see on T.V. and in the media is gay this gay that. Frankly, I don't want my children growing up thinking that this immoral behavior is ok. I've never been nor will be mean to gay people, but they don't have the right to push their beliefs on our kids.

Do you know for instance that married couples get tax breaks ?

As far as married people getting tax break, it was a marriage penalty until Bush fixed that. I know, because I have a C.P.A. and used to complain about that issue for years.

Do you know that when a property is sold that the tax break for a married couple on capital gains is $ 500.000

The tax break on the house is simply the single rate tax break times two. Any gay couple purchasing a house with rights of survivorship would get the same exact tax break.

Do you know that when a husband or wife die the property passes to the living spouse... no tax involved.

Gay couple can get the exact same tax treatment if they buy that property with rights of survivorship (WROS). Even married couple can run into tax troubles if they don't have WROS on all their property.

When a same sex couple living together for 50 years will have to pay tax on the entire inheritance. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT MARRIED.

Depends on their will. If that couple has a proper will in place with a trust fund set up, a good amount of the inheritance tax can be avoided. Same thing goes for married couples. They can end up paying far more taxes and end up in probate court, if they don't have a proper will.

When a married spouse enters the hospital visitation rights are given. A same sex couple the one partner can be forbidden to see the other by family. In one instance I know the parents of one of the two kicked the partner out of the house and denied visitation rights to the partner who was dying. The surviving partner never even got to say good-bye.

This is a good example and is plainly wrong. One way to avoid this though is to have a living will. More paperwork, but it ensures the gay couple gets visitation rights and/or rights to make decisions on the disposition of the incapacitated one within hospitals.

There is something about fairness here and rights for every human being and Americans.

Marriage is NOT threatening the marriage of anyone. It is just a right that all couples who love one another should have under the aegis of nothing more than Civil Rights.

I agree to a certain extent, but the gay agenda seems to have gone into overdrive with the help of Hollywood and the media. Perhaps, the gay community has felt oppressed for so long that they are swinging to the opposite end of the activism spectrum. Perhaps it's even justified. However, where their rights end is when they try to impose their beliefs on me or my children.
