Endangered in some areas and they take a long time to grow and sexually mature. They can get up to 5' long and weigh as much as 80-90lbs.

The ling cod we catch are a different saltwater species than what Albertans call a ling, which is actually a burbot and is a freshwater fish.

"BURBOT: It has a variety of names across North America. In B.C. it is often called ling or freshwater cod. Sometimes it is incorrectly referred to as ling cod; ling codis a saltwater fish unrelated to the burbot."
