We have a leak of reactor coolant into the containment structure

The following CNN quote from a "county official" is nearly identical to the first few messages released by Three-Mile Island "county officials".

>>>"The plant is stable and represents no threat to the public or surrounding area at this time," Ficano said.<<<

Let's see how this goes. Yesterday was day one.

Day one for Three-Mile Island began on a Wednesday. On Sunday, 4 days later, over 100,000 people fled the area in a panic.

Winds in the area are projected to be N to ESE over the next 5 days. If you are anywhere near Monroe, Michigan, or are located WNW to S, (That means anywhere West or South of a N-S line drawn through the town.) and until this is resolved, I suggest three things.

1. keep your anti-radiation pills very handy...like in your pocket. nukepills.com

2. Move to your highest personal and family readiness level.

3. Review your rendezvous and evacuation plans with family members. Watch this event closely for any signs of officials requesting federal assistance to control the leak or other difficulties in leak containment. Get moving if you see such.

This is not a first in that area. Michigan had to close another Nuclear plant about 10 years ago. And a similar plant had to be closed, due to leaks, in N Ohio about two years ago. Neither has reopened, but they were eventually contained at least for now.

Dare I even say it...A weakened Nuclear power plant has to be a juicy terrorist target.
