I was elected VP of our football league.

VP used to suck before cheney changed it into the
wizard of oz power position it was always meant to be.
you shall now be known as "el puppetmaster".

One of my first duties is to build a website for the team.
They have a make-shift one on some silly site but it needs a better home.
Any ideas where a good place to move it?
Has small traffic flow if any.

INDEED I DO!

i recently did some intensive searches for the best
web hosts at the best price for some clients and friends
and discovered a good one (there may be comparables but
this one has proven, through experience, to be everything
they advertise).

they host some of the greatest, fastest, most reliable
sites you'll ever see, including silverbeaver.net and sailcortez.com <g>

here's something i wrote to jimmy:

******************************************

i've done a good deal of research and comparison shopping
and made a choice of a webhost for you based on:

1. reliability and customer service
2. technical specifications and hardware and software infrastructure
3. service history, downtime record, years in business and guarantees
4. value to cost

there are free webhosts available but you don't want to mess
with those guys for a business web site. you don't want pop-up
ads and banners that annoy visitors and you want some customer
service and performance guarantees that you won't get from a free site.

the host company i've selected is "ix webhosting"

here's a link to their order page:

ixwebhosting.com

or if you want to do this by phone, call their sales dept. at:

1-800-385-0450

what you want to order is the "linux server hosting - ECONOMY PLAN"
it has everything you'll ever need and MORE. it's going to cost you $4.95
per month - payable annually or payable every two years. if you can spring
for the two year plan you'll get FREE domain registration which saves
you an extra $20. your total is going to be $118.80 every two years which
is a GREAT VALUE for all they provide and it includes several money-back
guarantees.

***********************************************

after working with the server for jimmy in building his
web pages, i've found ix webhosting to be excellent in speed and reliability and i highly recommend them.

Any hints on how to build it?
We already own a domain name but might try to
make it smaller and easier to remember.

they have some free site builder software with pre-made
templates but i don't recommend that unless you just want
to get something up quick and temporary.

i've always been a purist using straight html coding for
my sites but there is so much other complex stuff that's
come along that you really need a good web page editor to
build sites nowadays. my recommendation is to download
the free open-source NVU website creator-editor software:

nvu.com

i'm using it and it doesn't suck!

How busy are you?
<g>

CHUTOP YOU! YOU STINK! I DON'T WANT TO TOCK ABOUTIT!

Clappy~

If you get your web account set up
and elpolvo finds himself short of time to help,
just PM me anytime as I've done quite
a few websites for myself and others
over the years.
Can probably give you some help to
get up and running.

<I was elected VP of our football league.>

Congratulations...great choice for VP. Hopefully you have a smart president to work with. If you don't, the good news is we know how that model works too. <g> <ng>.

I hope this work won't distract you from your off-season draft picking and trades for the Mini Pack.

The local talk shows have started in the the Super Bowl already. Most of them are cautious - I haven't heard anyone saying we are going to blow the Eagles off the field. I have to check out the Eagle roster - not that familiar with them other that TO and McNabb and his mother hustling Campbell Soup. These are two very physical teams on the line so that should be a blast to watch. I think I told you my brother is a total Eagles fanatic - getting several emails a day full of trash talk from him - he's a teacher so it's funny to hear him trash it up.

Do we now refer to you as Mr. Vice President, or can we still call ya Clapper?
