Can't say for sure - at some point I thought "I learned it". Maybe its not even true. Not really germane anyway.

This is one of those things you keep saying over and over again, (like Stalin was a socialist, or that Hitler was a vegetarian). I bet you think they are really potent arguments, but they are not. I found thousands of hits at Google discussing aspects of Native American spirituality, specifically their reverence for animals and animal spirits, and their sensitivity to killing only for need and using every part of the animal, and, yes, thanking the animal for its sacrifice. Some of the sites include lesson plans for teachers; it is taught in schools. The ecology of the Native Americans before they were all messed up by white men is fact.

I don't know what the Indians up in your neck of the woods have been up to, and I know from your comments about them that you are mighty bitter about them for some reason, but that is no reason to denigrate all Native American pagan spirituality. Now how many web pages would you like me to send you validating my point?

Here's one, which is simply symbolic of the larger truth. I chose it because the music is pretty. Not the most scholarly, and just about the buffalo (it lists all the uses for buffalo parts at the bottom). I could send you a lot more scholarly articles proving this point:
