They expect to be treated differently, because they are part of the supremely arrogant leftist <ed.>"the end justifies the means" crowd that excuses any transgression by their minions. Rather than receiving punishment and scorn from their peers, they will probably be held in high esteem as having committed some sort of 1st Amendment-related civil disobedience. After all, it was done in the name of politics, right? We know better. This is along the lines of Dipy's (I think - or was it Orca, or maybe Junior - they all blend together) view that Saddam's paying $30,000 to families of Palestinian suicide bombers was "just" political activity.
