Don't worry, leave it all to Condi. A grease pen and a white board in a comfortable Pentagon conference room and she'll have it sorted!

Jay, Taikun! The important point here is the military establishment needs the money. Troops deployed abroad earn more money than at home.
Generals long for the days they could live in castles in Germany's Baden Wurtemberg's Black Forest enjoying the good life. Did I say good life? Oh, no! they were defending the free world christian western civilization against some guys who they said ate babies for breakfast a.k.a communists.

Whatever the military establishment do with with the troops is irrelevant. They can station then anywhere as long as the money keeps flowing. But I can tell you the desert there is not like Black Forest.

So the generals and the top brass stay in Florida with a fleet of planes ready to fly them there and the 'peones' will eat dust in the desert.

Jay,

Re:
I am wondering how stratfor figures the US troops will be supplied across enemy territory

I don't know Stratfor's logistician's solution, but Rumsfeld is already engaged in massive airlifts of all supplies. In Baghdad, for instance, the road between the airport and the Green Zone has become enemy territory, and supplies are being airfreighted to the airport and then transhipped via helicopter to the Green Zone. The profits for the airlift equipment suppliers are superb.... And the dimwitted American taxpayer just doesn't seem to get it.
