<<Great question, BP! I am opposed to racial classifications of any type, on any forms, or any government (or any other) programs.>>

So am I. Perhaps you remember Prop 54, the Racial Privacy Initiative, which lost on October 7, 2003 in California. Sponsored and promoted by Ward Connerly, it ["...... would have barred the state and all local California governments from classifying individuals by race in the areas of public education, employment, contracting and most other government operations. Reasonable exemptions existed for medical research subjects and patients, racial classifications required by federal law or for federal funds and certain activities of law enforcement. The state legislature, by a two-thirds vote and with the governor’s approval, could have voted to exempt any other reasonable area. Also, the Department of Fair Housing and Employment would have received a 10-year sun-setting exemption."]

With the help of the Democrats and the MSM demonizing the initiative, it lost. At least it was a start and my hunch is we will see more such.

Thanks for your response. I am hoping that Mary Cluney, to whom I proposed the original question, may also join our mini-bandwagon <g>.
